Rescued from Darkness! - December 2, 2005

Read Colossians 1:12-20.

Dear friends,

Do you know that you have been loved by an eternal God - who never wants to give up on you?

There is a story told of a rebellious teenage girl and her struggling mom. The girl had just been arrested for drunk driving. The mom had just gone through a wrenching divorce. But after her mom picked up her daughter from the police station, she gave her a small gift box. The girl opened the box to discover a small rock inside.

"Cute, mom - what's this for?"

The mother said, "Read the card."

Her daughter took the card out of the envelope and read it. Tears began to streak down her cheeks as she discovered the words: "This rock is more than 200,000,000 years old. That is how long it will take before I give up on you."

In Colossians 1:12-20, Paul gives thanks for one thing: Jesus. This is because he knew it is God's love in his Son Jesus that is the one aspect of Paul being saved, rescued from death.

God didn’t give up on Paul. He won't give up on you!
