Pastor's Corner Do What You Can Do - and Say Thank You! - November 25, 2005 Read 1 Kings 17:7-16. Dear friends, |

In 1 Kings 17:7-16, there's a great story about Elijah meeting a poor woman who barely has enough for her last meal - but he essentially tells her to just do what you can do, and that will be enough. The word about giving that we have from this story is: "Don't be afraid." I don't know about you, but sometimes I'm afraid in my giving. "What if we're not replenished with what we need for our own lives? What if I increase my giving, but our home costs rise even further?" Henry Ford, the automaker, once observed: "Money doesn't change men; it merely unmasks them. If a man is naturally selfish or arrogant or greedy, money will simply show who he really is." Elijah and that woman, by the providence of God, kept eating! So will I. So will you. Give from your heart, without fear. And say thank you to God for being our Great Provider. God's blessings to you this day! Andy Ross
