Kids know what's going on, don't they? Or at least they make us laugh with their observations about love and marriage that they pick up from us adults: Q: How do you decide who to marry? A: "You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming." - Allan, 10. A: "No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry. God decides it all the way before and you get to find out later who you’re stuck with." - Kirsten,10. Q: How would you make a marriage work? A: "Tell your wife that she looks pretty even if she looks like a truck." - Ricky, 10. Well, instead of that last advice, try reading Ephesians 5:21-31. There we learn that marriage works when we honor each other, as Christ so honored us through his sacrifice of love. The key word here is "submit." We don't usually like this word. But it's a great Bible word for how real love works! We sacrifice for each other; we submit our plans and wants, just so the other person can be helped, encouraged and supported. Isn't that a lot better than just saying she looks pretty? God's blessings to you this day! Andy Ross
