Pastor's Corner Let the Club Do the Work - September 9, 2005 Read Psalm 1. Dear friends, |

Okay, it's a well known fact that me and golf have never gotten along! I'm one of those who view golf as a nice walk in the park ruined by a little ball and a bag of sticks! But here's a piece of golf advice which might help you start your day. Richard Speight was having a bad time of it as well, one day on the golf course. He was swinging and sweating, but the golf ball wasn't going in any direction he wanted! But then he encountered a player who, besides hitting the ball well, also offered him this advice: "You're trying too hard, young fellow," he said. "Just relax. Take it easy. Let the club do the work. That's what golf's all about." Check out Psalm 1. It's about a tree that thrives simply because it lets the river next to it do the work - it's planted in the right place, and just grows! Today, ask yourself: are you going to spend this day working too hard? As if it's entirely up to you? IT ISN'T! Go to your God in prayer; rely on him, and let his strength and Spirit do the work ... through you! God's blessings to you this day! Andy Ross
