Are You Lost? - September 2, 2005

Read Ephesians 1.

Dear friends,

Here's a story that came about when the controversial issue arose as to whether airline pilots should carry weapons on planes. The pilot surprised his navigator when he pulled out a .38 revolver and placed it on top of the instrument panel, then asked the navigator, "Do you know what I use this for?"

The navigator replied timidly, "No, what’s it for?"

The pilot said gruffly, "I use this on navigators who get me lost!"

At this, the navigator proceeded to pull out a .45 revolver of his own.

The pilot, with surprise, asked, "What’s that for?"

"To be honest, sir," the navigator replied, "I’ll know we’re lost before you will."

It's a good question! At what precise point do you realize you're really lost in life?

And at what point do you stop and ask for directions? At what point do you get yourself turned around?

Check out Ephesians 1 in the Bible. There you'll get a sense of direction, and purpose, and new identity - of how our great and mighty God has chosen and adopted us as his children - to live for his glory and service.
