Coming YOUR Way! - August 26, 2005

Read Luke 24:36-39.

Dear friends,

Last night we were at a Diamondbacks game. And we lost.

But a thrilling moment came when a foul ball was knocked powerfully up into the stadium air, and we quickly noticed it was coming our way!

The ball arched up and then down - RIGHT TOWARDS US!

Now, earlier, I had calmly warned my wife and daughter that this might happen. Confidently and coolly I encouraged them to be on the lookout and ready if a ball comes our way.

But me? When that ball started arcing down towards our seats I jumped up - acted like a crazy man - I bashed into my daughter's lemonade - and stepped all over her toes.

Did I catch it? No. It landed three rows back. But it was thrilling to be in the action - to have a real, live hit come our way.

When Jesus appeared to the disciples after his resurrection, they were, as Luke describes them, "startled and frightened." That's Bible talk for "freaked out!" (Luke 24:36-39)

But Jesus said to them, "Peace be with you."

And they caught THAT ball. And it was a home run!

I hope and pray you catch this one today, too!
