Tears That Clear - August 12, 2005

Read Psalm 55:22.

Dear friends,

"We should be thankful for our tears: They prepare us for a clearer vision of God." - William A. Ward.

I wear contacts. I have little discs that sit on my eyes and help me see.

But living in a desert clime in which little discs dry out can be a challenge! If you're a contact lens wearer like me - you get used to being grateful for tears, at least in one small way: they lubricate and cushion your contact lens, and help you see more clearly.

As with life, the moments in which we are in crisis or struggling, in pain and tears - can be ultimately, and in the long run, a way for us to see a God who is there for us, comforting us, and holding us when we are too weak to stand.

"Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall." - Psalm 55:22.
