Pastor's Corner Up a Tree? - July 8, 2005 Read Luke 19:1-10. Dear friends, |

Not to be a downer - but I feel that many live their lives in a lonely, burned-out or confused state of being. Or, at least, some get used to thinking that is just what life is. Many strive to accumulate lots of things, instead of developing good relationships. Many seek after peace or meaning through drink or drugs or other distractions, rather than turning to God in prayer. Some feel lost, but have become so used to feeling lost, they've forgotten about the quest to get home. Once, a security guard in a store located a child who was lost, and took him to a store office while they sought out the parents. The guard got a large ice cream cone for the boy; and when his parents arrived at the office, there was their little son, happily eating his ice cream. His parents (who were frantic) embraced him, and then the child burst into tears. The security guard smiled and said, "Gosh, I guess he didn't know he was lost until he was found!" In Luke 19:1-10, there is a charming story of a man named Zacchaeus, who was found by Jesus while sitting up in a tree. Like the little boy in the store, Zacchaeus didn't realize he was lost, until he was found by the Savior. I hope today that you are somewhere in a tree (or condition of life) in which you can see Jesus from where you are - and that you find your way home by dropping the ice cream cone of your distraction, and running to the open arms of your Savior who loves you. God's blessings to you this day! Andy Ross
