Who’s Your Daddy? - June 24, 2005

Read Romans 8:12-17.

Dear friends,

Two explorers in central Africa were comparing their stories one day. "I am a man of action," said the first man. "Modern life was too stuffy and predictable for me. I wanted to experience new horizons, danger, adventure. I wanted to see nature in the raw. That's why I came out here. What about you?"

The second man replied, "I came because my son is taking saxophone lessons."

Ahh, family life! Take it from one who once tried to learn the saxophone - there are tensions that develop in a growing up family! But there are also amazing benefits. My parents encouraged and supported me in all sorts of ways, and to this day I'm grateful for their love and support. My dad didn't take off to Africa!

Check out Romans 8:12-17. There is an amazing promise there about how God, through his Son, Jesus Christ, wants to claim us as his own - adopt us - so that we can know and love God back. Call him "Abba" - which means "Dad."

So - as you dive into a brand new day and week, who really is your Daddy?
