And Soon! - April 22, 2005

Read Revelation 22:12.

Dear friends,

A man was traveling from Indianapolis, Indiana to Chicago, Illinois. He didn't realize that Indianapolis is on Eastern Standard Time and Chicago is on Central Standard Time. But he asked at the Indianapolis airport about a plane to Chicago.

"The next flight leaves at 1:00 P.M.," the ticket agent said, "and arrives in Chicago at 1:01 P.M. Do you want a reservation?"

"Would you repeat that, please?" the startled traveler asked.

"The next flight leaves at 1:00 P.M.," the agent repeated, "and arrives in Chicago at 1:01 P.M. Would you like a ticket?"

"No," said the man. "But I think I'll hang around and watch that thing take off!"

In Revelation 22:12, Jesus says "Behold, I am coming soon!"

We may not understand the time zones God uses, and how he means "soon." Yet we are to live each day to the fullest, hoping and preparing to be found ready as his glad and faithful servants when he returns. May today be a day in which you live each moment in God's grace and presence. In Christ, "current standard time" is changed into "sacred new time."
