I Do Have Time to Read! - January 14, 2005

Read Psalm 119.

Dear friends,

Psalm 119 is not only the longest psalm (and "chapter") in the Bible, it also is about reading God's word. And it can make you wonder, if you're in a hurry, how you can make time to read God's Word on a regular, successful basis.

Many of us cry out, "I don't have time to read!" But you do!

One recent report cited that in one year, the average American reads 3,000 forms or notices, 100 newspapers, and 36 magazines - but only 3 books. This seems to suggest that we read in spurts.

Did you ever think that the Bible could be read this way? In short doses, but one day at a time? If you read just one chapter of the Bible a day, you will have read the entire Bible in about 3 years.

Go for it! God's Word is right there - you just need to pick it up, pray, and read a bit at a time. You'll find that it will become one of the most meaningful short habits of your life!
