Serving Joy for Christmas! - December 17, 2004

Read Luke 1:39-45.

Dear friends,

Check out Luke 1:39-45. You see there a beautiful picture of wonder - of joy - and of how key people were used in key ways to serve one another, and to serve God's plan.

Whom are you serving these days? this Christmas?

Roy Medley, in his address to the General Board of American Baptist Churches, noted there are key differences between servanthood and servitude:

• Servitude is imposed; servanthood is embraced.
• Servitude enslaves; servanthood emancipates.
• Servitude denigrates; servanthood uplifts.
• Servitude crushes; servanthood fulfills.
• Servitude despairs; servanthood rejoices!
