A message from Pastor Andy Ross...

Leaning, Leaning! - November 26, 2004

Read Mark 5:21-43.

Dear friends,

About three times a year we offer the Alpha course at our church. And typically, for fun, I lead the singing of the old gospel tune, "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms." But the way we sing it is with arms around each other - swaying back and forth. The biggest difficulty in singing this way is to try and keep from laughing!

In Mark 5:21-43 we see how Jesus’ power, a power of God touching us, defeats death itself.

I'm told that the giant sequoia trees of California can grow up to 300 feet above ground. This is not just because of their own strength, but also because they grow in clusters, and their roots intertwine with each other under the soil.

As you go through this day, don't forget this: one of the best things you can always be doing for yourself, is to reach out and touch, and be a good friend for someone else!

God's blessings to you this day!
