Want to Feel Better? Give Yourself Away! - November 5, 2004

Read Acts 20:35.

Dear friends,

It's always neat to read something in the newspaper that corroborates scriptural truth. There it was in the Arizona Daily Star, Nov. 29, 2003: "Growing Evidence Shows Real Benefits for Those Who Give." Reports of research were cited - from the University of Michigan to Presbyterians - "the people who reported helping others, even if it was just emotional support to a spouse, were only half as likely to die as those who did not."

Other quotes and findings were listed:

• "improved mental health seemed to be more closely linked to giving help than to receiving it."
• "when you open your heart to other people to listen and care about them, it changes the way you look at the world, and you're happier."

Jesus knew what he was talking about - see Acts 20:35. There really is a "more blessed" way to live life! You find real life when you give it away.

Make it your personal project today - give your time, your money, your kindness, your attention ... all that you have - to as many people as possible. By the end of the day, you might be tired, but you'll be smiling.
