Mission at Northminster

A Message from Ken Skodiak

Ken Skodiak, Associate Pastor for Youth and Mission, comments on the mission work of Northminster Presbyterian Church:

"Mission at Northminster...

"The work of the Mission Committee is to create a mission mindset for our church in everything we do:

  • Continually pray and seek God's direction in how and what we as a church and individuals should be involved in. (Ephesians 6:18-20)

  • Serve and tell the story of Jesus Christ to those outside the walls of the church. (Matthew 28:19)

  • Support missions that provide opportunities for our congregation to use their gifts and talents to further the mission of Jesus Christ wherever they may be (1 Corinthians 12:12-13), including encouraging, recruiting, supporting and sending missionaries from our own congregation. (Romans 10:13-15)

  • Learn and attempt to reach those who are still "unreached" in our world, by being aware of those people groups in the 10/40 window and how we as a church can be engaged in supporting/bringing the gospel to these and other parts of the world. (Romans 15:20)

  • Make a difference in our own neighborhood by seeking the well-being of those around us. (Jeremiah 29:7)

  • Risk new ideas, set what seem as unrealistic goals, and mobilize people to go to possibly dangerous places to reach those for Christ.

"Mission at Northminster is a very important part of what we do and how we see ourselves.

"We have mission opportunities for youth and adults that involve both local projects and traveling outside our own state and country.

"The youth of our church have gone to such places as the Yucatan, Peninsula, Honduras and Los Angeles. Adult teams have built houses in Rocky Point with AMOR ministries. Our women have been involved in mission projects such as painting houses, delivering shoes to Native Americans and making Christmas stockings for our troops overseas.

"We have mission connections in places like Romania, Honduras, Mexico, Africa and right here in the southside of Tucson.

"If you are interested in more information, please contact us to see how you might get involved."

Tuba City and Beyond - Youth Mission Trip
August 1-7, 2005
Top

Youth Mission TripFrom August 1-7, a great group of students and leaders from our Senior High group will be off to Tuba City for our annual summer mission trip. There is a small, but active Presbyterian church on the reservation in Tuba City and we as a group are going to be building a 40 ft. X 40 ft. concrete sports court for the church. We will also be offering a VBS/Kids Club experience for three of the days we are there.

Please keep the whole team in your prayers as we drive, work, worship, serve and be a witness to the people of Tuba City and the church. Thank you for your prayers and support.
