Making a real difference in the lives of real people ... Northminster Presbyterian Church has a vibrant volunteer ministry. Throughout the entire week, volunteers are quietly working in God’s kingdom. In small ways and big ways, they make a real difference in the lives of real people. The ministries described here are only some of the ways volunteers are serving at Northminster. |

Assembly of The Vine and The Branches Volunteers assemble The Vine and The Branches, which is Northminster's monthly newsletter. They affix mailing labels, and prepare it for mailing. The organization of these tasks is handled by volunteers. Cookie Corps Ministry The members of the Cookie Corps and the Cookie Brigade meet in the kitchen on the third Wednesday or the third Thursday of the month. They bake cookies to be used in the Rowley Courtyard for fellowship on Sundays. Can-Do Crew Volunteers select a day of the week to serve in various capacities as needed. They select the day and the time to fit their schedule. Craftergivers Ministry The members meet at 9:30 AM in the Multipurpose Building every Tuesday. They make items to sell at the Craft Fair in the Fall and the Spring and donate all proceeds to various missions. Kitchen Maintenance Ministry The Kitchen Maintenance Ministry is responsible for making up the plates of cookies for fellowship on Sunday mornings. The members meet in the kitchen on Friday mornings to prepare the platters of cookies. All Church Work Day The men of the church meet one Saturday a month to do painting, brick laying, and building and grounds maintenance as needed. Ushers The ushers are responsible for greeting worshippers as they enter the sanctuary and providing them with bulletins. They also assist with seating worshippers and receiving the offering. The ushers are organized by two usher’s captains, who maintain the schedules for worship services. Office Volunteer Ministry The office volunteers accomplish a number of tasks. They serve on Sunday mornings in two shifts: the first shift is from 7:45 to 10:15 AM, and the other from 10:15 AM to 12:00 PM. During this time they answer the telephone and assist those who come to the office. During the work week, the volunteers answer phones, assist visitors, file, collate, perform data entry and assist in other ways as needed. Prayer Chain Ministry The Prayer Chain Ministry consists of a group of members who, when they become aware of a critical prayer need, notify other members of the Prayer Chain and pray for the particular need. Notifications are by telephone, and the group does not have regular meetings. Sanctuary Guild The members of the Sanctuary Guild are responsible for preparing and placing all banners and decorations, and making seasonal changes in the sanctuary. They meet as needed. Soup Lunch Ministry On the first Wednesday of the month, at 11:30 AM, a soup lunch is held in the Fellowship Hall. All members of the congregation and friends are invited. The cost is $2.00. Volunteers prepare the lunch and dessert, set the tables, and clean up following the lunch. Please contact us if you are interested in serving in any of these volunteer ministries.
