The Source ... A safe place to hear & experience a dangerous message

College & Young Adult Ministries -

The Source

Fusion - New Worship Service To Begin In January 2008
We’re very excited about FUSION - a new weekly Sunday worship service that will be launching on January 20, 2008 at 6:00 P.M. in the Fellowship Hall. This new service will be called FUSION, as a way to describe God’s call for us to live with God’s Word infused in our lives, as we engage the world in Christian mission, as well as we fuse the best of our reformed worship heritage with new modes that connect with emerging generations. FUSION will be led by our pastors in coordination with our Worship Committee, while engaging the leadership of young adults and college students who have been active and meeting through The Source on Sunday nights.

The Source - A safe place to hear & experience a dangerous message

Sundays 6:58 P.M.-8:37 P.M.

  • Unique Worship...
  • Meaningful Community...
  • Distinctive Ways to Serve Others...

That's what you'll find if you come to our college and young adult gathering on Sunday nights. If you're looking for a place to renew your faith, seek out the role of our Creator in your life, energize through worship and connect with people your age, stop by and experience The Source.

What happens at The Source?

  • We enjoy food and refreshments
  • We sing and praise God in music
  • We pray for one another, others, and our world
  • We take time to be silent and listen to God
  • We experience God’s presence
  • We learn how to live a life pleasing to God from God’s word through teaching, preaching and discussion
  • We encourage each other and pray for each other through the week
  • We study issues that touch our lives as we navigate through college and begin our careers
  • We reach out to others in mission and ministry projects
  • We have fun and laugh in the name of the One who created joy!

What kinds of things will we talk about?

Good question! We have two main goals at The Source. The first one is to search to see what God has to say to us about real life through his word. Now, we may not find an answer to every question and we will, at times, struggle getting it right, but we’ll stay focused on God’s word.

The second is to be relevant to the issues you are facing right now or will be facing in the near future.

We will explore...

  • how to survive college, work stresses and worldly pressures and still be a Christian
  • if God answers prayer why did he give me that professor/boss?
  • dating, friendship, sex and other “touchy” issues
  • how can I spend time with Jesus when I don’t even have time to sleep?
  • what about all those other beliefs out there?
  • I’m confused about life so what’s up with that?!
  • why do dogs hate it when you blow in their faces but then when they get in a car all they want you to do is roll down the window so they can stick their face out the window while you are going 65 miles an hour?

Can I bring friends?

No! Only kidding. Of course you can bring friends. In fact we want you to bring friends. And don’t worry about whether or not they can recite whole chapters of the Bible by heart. We are all on a spiritual journey and at The Source we want to explore that journey together.

But I haven't been to church for a long time...

Don’t worry, at The Source we tend to do things a little differently. We don’t really have one set order in which we do things, although we do appreciate the idea of having some kind of order and not just complete chaos. One of the things we strive to do is to make sure you feel cared for and that you will see and hear Jesus.

But I am new and don't know anyone...

Then this is exactly where you should be! We all need to be needed and to know that some one else cares about us and is praying for us. At The Source we work hard at providing that kind of caring environment - from praying for each other through the week to planning some social events where we can just “hang” with each other.

What about serving others?

Not only do we think this is a good idea, we want to put that idea into practice. We do that by offering a variety of mission/ministry opportunities in various ways and locations.

I'm not "Presbyterian" or however you say it...

Not a big deal at all! In fact we love to have non-Presbyterians among us. The Source is not so much about Presbyterian worship as it is about worshipping God and finding out how being with the living God changes everything!

There are so many other Christian groups out there ... why should I come to The Source?

That is probably the one question we really can’t answer for YOU. There are a lot of other Christian fellowship groups out there and we do not in any way have an attitude of “competition” with any of them. All we ask is that you give us a try and see if The Source fits you. We offer some things that we believe are unique to a “local church-based” ministry. Plus, The Source extends to a variety of young adults, whether they be undergraduates, post-graduates, starting a career or in transitions.

But hey, we don’t offer some things that other groups offer, and that’s okay. In fact if The Source isn’t for you we will be more than happy to help you find something that works for you.
