2007 Session Committee Functions & Membership

Christian Education Committee - The primary purpose of the Christian Education Committee is to provide for all ages an education which is Christian at its basis and essence, so that people of all ages have the opportunity to grow towards likeness in Christ both in their thinking (theology) and behavior (ethics).

Evangelism & Outreach Committee - The Evangelism Committee focuses on those who do not know of the saving love of Jesus Christ and those who are not a part of a Christian church family.

Fellowship Committee - The Fellowship Committee promotes activities and organizations in the church that encourage participation and fellowship among church members.

Financial Stewardship Committee - The Financial Stewardship Committee coordinates the financial needs of Northminster Church with all Session committees and prepares an annual budget, and is responsible for the stewardship program of the congregation.

Mission Committee - The Mission Committee is responsible for recommending to Session the mission activities to be supported by Northminster, and periodically evaluates the programs which receive church funding to determine if continued support is appropriate.

Nominating Committee - The Nominating Committee provides a list of nominees for the various church offices from the names of those submitted to them by members of the congregation.

Personnel Committee - The Personnel Committee coordinates personnel policy and practice across the entire church staff; recommends salary policy and reviews salary actions annually; establishes clear work responsibilities for each position; and helps to develop position descriptions.

Planning Committee - The function of the Planning Committee is to visualize an exciting future for Northminster and ways of achieving it. To do this, the committee (i) monitors the changing needs of ministry and of the congregation; (ii) identifies strategies for meeting those needs through new or improved programs, additional or reorganized staff, and enlarged or improved facilities; (iii) regularly assesses the state of the entire physical plant and the need for major capital improvements; and (iv) periodically communicates plans for the future to the Session and the congregation.

Preschool Board - The Board oversees the operation and activities of Northminster Chritian Preschool and Kindergarten.

Property Committee - The Property Committee is responsible for providing the physical facilities required for the implementation of the mission statement of Northminster Presbyterian Church.

Worship Committee - The Worship Committee is firstly responsible for assuring that the theology expressed in our services of worship conforms to the teaching of Scripture, as informed by the Book of Confessions and the Directory of Worship. The Committee provides leadership in planning for and assessing the quality and standards of worship at Northminster.
